Road closure – Aug 14 - Sept 1

 

 Birchmount Rd will be closed from Aviva Way (North entrance) to Royal Citizen Court, Aug 14 - Sept 1, to complete construction activities for Markham District Energy.

 

Detours will be in place. Local traffic can access businesses in the area.

Due to expected inclement weather, this evening's outdoor movie, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, has been rescheduled.

 

The event will now occur on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. If you are unable to attend the rescheduled event, kindly cancel your registration.

Road closure – on Thursdays, August 3, 10, 24, 31 and September 7 and 14 from 6:30 to 10 PM.

 

Main St Unionville will be closed from Carlton Rd to the East laneway, and Fred Varley Dr will be closed from Fonthill Blvd to Main St Unionville for Thursday Nights at the Bandstand.

Need to book a Study Room? Starting on September 5, you’ll need to use the City of Markham's new Program Registration & Facility Booking platform to book a Study Room at MPL.

York Region Transit (YRT) service changes will take effect Sunday, September 3, 2023

 

·            Schedule and route adjustments will be made on selects routes to match customer demand

·            Various routes will have frequency improvements to support ridership recovery and the Frequent Transit Network

·            Three new routes are being introduced: 361 – Nashville Express (Vaughan); 404 – Markville Secondary School Special (Markham); 437 – St. Maximilian Kolbe School Special (Aurora)

·            High School Special routes will be reinstated; schedules will be adjusted to meet school bell times

·            Several YRT routes that were suspended in 2020 due to a decrease in ridership will not be returning; resources, including buses and service hours, are being redistributed to other routes with growing traveller demand

YRT Express fare change will take effect Tuesday, September 5, 2023

 

·            The fare supplement of 50 cents on all Express routes will be removed; travellers will pay regular fare on all 300-series YRT routes

-Notice of Construction-

1. York Region is improving Highway 7 in Markham and Richmond Hill
from May until early September 2023. Road work on weeknights, Monday to Friday, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. and lane restrictions are required.

 

2. Kennedy Road from 16th Avenue to Major Mackenzie Drive beginning late May 2023 until November 2023;  Road work will occur on weekdays and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and lane restrictions are required.

 

3. Kennedy Road from Steeles Avenue to Highway 407 beginning late May 2023 until November 2023. Majority of road work will occur on weeknights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. with some work occurring on weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and lane restrictions are required.

 

4. Night paving begins on Kennedy Road from 16th Avenue to Major Mackenzie Drive at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 and will continue weeknights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
