As we look ahead to the holiday season, we are mindful that some are less fortunate than us. In the last year, Markham Food Bank has seen an increase of clients with food insecurity by 80%.

In keeping with that, I will hold a food drive event, "Markham Helping Hands 2023," with support from Markham Fire & Emergency Service and 3 local supermarkets to donate and deliver food items to Markham Food Bank.

From Saturday, December 9 to Sunday, December 10, please bring nonperishable, unopened food items to the entrance at the below supermarket locations:

1. Foodymart - 5221 Hwy 7, Markham, ON L3R 1N3
2. Sunny Foodmart - 7700 Markham Rd, Markham, ON L3S 4S1
3. WinCo Food Mart - 3155 Hwy 7, Markham, ON L3R 0T9

You will find large barrels where you can deposit the items.

Thank you in advance for your generosity. Let’s make a difference this holiday season.

Before potential snow or freezing rain, York Region maintenance staff spray the roads with salty water called “brine.”
