On Monday, April 8, 2024, there will be a near-total solar eclipse between 2:04 p.m. and 4:31 p.m., with the peak occurring at 3:19 p.m. York Region will experience night-like conditions during the afternoon.
If possible, it is best to avoid travel during this time. If you must drive, avoid looking at the sun, ensure your headlights are on and watch closely for pedestrians. Do not take pictures while driving and avoid pulling over while driving to take pictures.
