Happy to address questions raised by residents on Ontario Bill 23 at the Forum hosted by the Active Community Engagement on Dec 18, 2022.

Bill 23 will have tremendous impacts on the municipal income and services.

A winter storm warning is in effect for York Region this Friday and Saturday. Strong winds, blowing snow, reduced visibility and slippery conditions will create hazardous road conditions. Residents are reminded to stay safe and be prepared.
Due to expected severe weather conditions, all YRDSB in-person schools will be closed to students and staff tomorrow, Friday, December 23, 2022.

Please DO NOT send your children to school.

Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for Markham starting with mixed precipitation this evening and changing to snow early Friday morning. Wind gusts up to 90 km/hr and snowfall up to 15 CM can be expected. Flash freeze possible Friday morning.

Avoid travel wherever possible. Our Operations team is ready and will continue to monitor the weather and road conditions 24/7. Learn more at markham.ca/AreYouReady.

Help us help you.

Please don’t park on the street. Our plows need room to get by and can’t properly clear roads if cars are in the way.

Parked vehicles on roads may result in them being plowed in.
Winter can be unpredictable. We encourage you to make a plan. Have an emergency kit with water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit, and a flashlight. Learn more: markham.ca/AreYouReady

Heavy snowfall and freezing rain are expected Friday, Dec. 23. Extra collection crews will be out early, and your material must be at the curb by 7 AM. For winter guidelines, visit markham.ca/Recycling.
Your 2023 Recycling & Garbage Collection Schedule is now available online. View here or on the Access Markham mobile app!
